ABORTION:
A Short-term Solution With Lifelong Consequences
PHYSICAL CONSEQUENCES
An abortion facility may not have, and may never tell you about, the possible physical consequences of having an abortion, but there are many that make abortion dangerous to your health and well-being.
Pelvic infection is a common and serious complication of induced abortion and has been reported in up to 30% of all cases."1
Women who abort a first trimester pregnancy before a full-term pregnancy have approximately twice the risk of contracting breast cancer.2
Risk of miscarriage is almost doubled for women with one induced abortion but no prior deliveries.3
About 10% of young women experience cervical injury.4 "Most uterine perforations go unrecognized and untreated."5
There is a 600% increased risk of experiencing placenta previa - a condition producing extremely sever, life-threatening bleeding in future pregnancies.6
Women of minority races are three times more likely to die of hemorrhage (following the legal abortion) than white females.7 They also have a higher rate of hysterectomy (due to hemorrhage, infection, or uterine perforation).8
HAVE YOU ASKED THE ABORTION FACILITY STAFF THESE THREE VERY IMPORTANT QUESTIONS?
Can I see my ultrasound? (An ultrasound is used to locate and destroy the baby.)
Will the abortion hurt? (If awake, pain is experienced. If under general anesthesia, there are "well recognized risks and hazards."9 An abortion facility may have no emergency equipment should a problem arise under anesthesia.)
If it's not a baby, then what is it? (See Facts About Fetal Development)
PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSEQUENCES
Has the abortion facility mentioned the
psychological consequences of having an abortion? These can impact
your future long after you have healed physically.
Almost all those who have abortions "feel guilt and depression" afterward. Planned Parenthood has recently stated the figure to be 91%. Many require extensive therapy before they can begin to deal with their decision. Ten to 30% experience "long-term psychiatric problems."10
The "...worst thing in the world."
So said Kelly V., age 20, after an 8-week
suction abortion at a facility on Ball Street in Irvington, NJ. She
felt that she wasn't adequately informed about her baby. She would not
have had an illegal abortion. She returned twice because of hemorrhaging,
infection, high fever, and pain (probably an incomplete abortion).
She now has experienced guilt, regret, a hostility towards men, feelings of dehumanization, despair, crying, depression, and an inability to forgive herself. She has sought, and received, counseling from Abortions Aftermath.
Sixteen-year-old Amanda, a black American from Newark, received a positive test result from this same facility on Ball Street. She told her parents, who demanded she abort. Amanda hadn't told her parents of her abortion at fourteen, and the traumatic psychological effects that caused her never to want an abortion again. She felt trapped. Upon visiting a crisis pregnancy center, she found out she wasn't even pregnant! The abortion facility had lied to her for $270! She returned home thankful for the honesty of the nonprofit pregnancy center.
70% of women ended their relationship with their husbands or boyfriends within 30 days of having an abortion...and nearly all did so within two years. Your decision can adversely impact even the most stable relationships in your life.11
Many women suffer a flashback effect triggered by the objects or events related to babies or the abortion for many months or even years after the abortion. This may mean that everyday experiences like running the vacuum, food shopping, or watching television can cause an emotional breakdown.12
SOCIOLOGICAL CONSEQUENCES
Rev. Jesse Jackson has stated, "Abortion
is black genocide." What happens to the mind of a person, and
the moral fabric of a nation, that accepts the aborting of the life of
a baby without a pang of conscience?"13
48% of black Americans believe abortion should not be legal under any circumstances.14
Black Americans represent 9% of the US population (down from 12% in 1973, when abortion was legalized), yet 44% of all abortions are by black Americans.15 Rep. Hillman Frazier explains this situation as "a lack of information."16
In abortion facilities in black neighborhoods, often the receptionist is black, but rarely is the abortionist or the administrator. You need to ask yourself why. Black American entertainer Lola Falana has said, "We need to say 'no' to those who own abortion clinics in our neighborhoods."17
The myth that without legalized abortion, blacks would "have Aunt Sadie take them to the back alley" is another stereotype created by Planned Parenthood, whose founder, Margaret Sanger, was an avowed racist. She stated, "We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it occurs to any of their more rebellious members..."18 She also referred to minorities as "...inferior races... human weeds... menace to civilization... defectives... delinquents... dependents... irresponsible..." and ones who "...bred unhindered."19
Ask yourself: "Why a 'cash only,
no checks' policy at abortion facilities in mostly black communities?"
All legitimate physicians will accept your check.
The struggle continues...and you need to know that abortion is, in Jesse Jackson's words, "black genocide."
"Will even our friends excuse - will God
pardon us - for the part we act in making strong the hands of the enemy
of color?"
Richard Allen, former slave and founder
of the A.M.E. Church
"IF ONLY WOMBS HAD WINDOWS..."
NOW THEY DO!
Shari Richard has been told routinely to turn monitors away from the view of women considering abortions because "...it may just influence her."
Shari has been offering free ultrasounds to women considering abortion. Ninety percent of the women considering abortion will not choose abortion after viewing the sonogram.
Ms. Richard further states, "The unborn babies are a part of the abortion debate. If freedom of choice is to be anything but pro-choice rhetoric, it must include the freedom to see who is being aborted." 23
Harrison Hickman of the National Abortion Rights Action League has stated, "Nothing has been as damaging as the advancement in technology which shows sonogram pictures of the developing fetus."24
Carol Everett, former champion of abortion rights and former manager of three different abortion facilities, has said, "Ultrasound opens the womb to show the woman the truth about her baby. If every woman had one, there would be less abortions."
She further has said, "The main purpose
is to charge her the most possible for the abortion."25
