Rev. Michael T. Westbrook is
celebrating his 20th year of ministry to youth and families. He has been
privileged to serve many churches and ministries throughout Northern New Jersey.
He currently serves as the founding pastor of the Greater Life Christian
Fellowship Church and the President and CEO of Greater Life, Inc., an outreach
ministry that he co-founded with his wife Maria.
For
17 years, Michael had served in the ministry of Young Life International in the
role of Vice President of Multi-Cultural and Urban Ministry and Regional
Director of the Gateway Metropolitan Region of Northern New Jersey.
For
the past 18 years, Rev. Westbrook has served in many positions in the Unified
Free Will Baptist Church denomination on both the denominational and the
conference level. He currently serves as the General Dean of the School of
Religion and serves on the Denominational Executive Committee.
On
the local level, he serves as the Treasurer of the Metropolitan Annual
Conference and the Dean of the General Bible Institute. He is co-founder and has
been Chairman of the Board of Gateway Pregnancy Center since 1990.
He
resides in Newark, New Jersey and is married to the Rev. Maria A. Westbrook for
19 years. Maria is a nationally known soloist, women's conference speaker, and
partner in ministry. They both attended William Penn University, where they met
over 20 years ago.
Rev.
Westbrook has also furthered his education at the Northern Baptist School of
Religion, Metropolitan Bible School, Fuller Seminary and Eastern University.
In
addition, Rev. Westbrook is a contributing author of the book "Planting Seeds of
Hope" focused on how to reach a new generation of African Americans with the
Gospel. He is a recipient of many honors and awards, including Who's Who Amongst
American Christian Leaders.
Rev.
Westbrook has had the privilege of serving as Dean of the Winter session of
Young Life Eastern University in 2001, is a roundtable member of the Urban
Summit, managed by the Black Family Development, a graduate of the Executive
Leadership Institute Training Program, and Co-coordinator of the National Black
Evangelical Association, Eastern Region.
He
and his wife are the proud God-parents of 6 wonderful God-Children!
